Where Can I Serve?
You should serve with non- profit organizations. The following are examples of approved volunteer service activities

- Hospitals
- Healthcare related non-profits (ie. American Cancer Society, Relay for Life)
- Senior Centers/ Assisted Living Non- Profits
- Non- Profit Animal Services (ie. The Humane Society, Animal Shelters
- Homeless Shelters or Women’s Shelters
- Food Banks and Pantries
- Mission Trips
- Youth Camp/ Summer Camp Counselor (non-paid positions)
- Local Community Events (ie. 5Ks, Taste of Marietta, club sporting events, art walks)
- Assistant Coaching (non- paid positions)
- Church events that benefit external community (ie. Blood Drives, Clothing Drives)
- Assisting in a school or club event, of which you ARE NOT involved. (ie. helping set up a wrestling match which you will NOT be participating in)
The following are examples of things that will NOT be approved:
- Travel time to and from service locations
- Students working for free with a business or profitable organization. This is considered job shadowing or an internship, and is NOT volunteer service.
- High school sports manager
- High School Performances (ie. band, orchestra, theater, cheerleading)
- Hours which are “double-dipped.” Hours logged for Beta, SHS, JROTC or another club cannot be used towards NHS membership requirements.
- Hours completed while skipping school. If this happens, administration will step in, and you may be removed from NHS.
